Cold Pour Laminating

At Pearsons Glass, we specialize in providing cutting-edge laminating solutions that preserve both the aesthetic integrity and structural strength of glass. Our cold-pour resin laminating service is designed to meet the unique challenges of heritage, stained, and decorative glass, combining traditional craftsmanship with modern safety standards.

In contemporary architecture and interior design, glass must not only captivate with its visual appeal but also adhere to stringent safety standards, particularly in hospitality, commercial, and residential settings. Cold pour laminating offers a sophisticated solution by securely bonding layers of glass without subjecting them to the high temperatures required in other methods, which could potentially compromise delicate, artistic, or historically significant pieces.

cold Pour Process

The process begins by layering a traditional or stained glass piece with float glass. Using our specialized facilities, we ensure precise alignment and stability. A taped border, typically visible 5-7mm from the panel’s edge, surrounds the glass. Resin is carefully poured through a recess between the glass layers, filling the space and bonding them securely. Once cured, the resin acts as a powerful adhesive, reinforcing the glass while maintaining its original aesthetic qualities.

For projects requiring enhanced durability, we can incorporate toughened glass into the lamination process. This involves bonding traditional 3mm glass to toughened glass, ensuring the panel meets British Standards EN12150. The result is a durable, structurally sound piece of laminated glass that remains stable even if shattered.
